For a Deaf person, working in a factory can be an isolating environment. With the provision of a Sign Language Interpreter, Steven Milligan was able to receive information in British Sign Language (BSL) to ensure he understood his job role and responsibilities, however, he was still left struggling to socialise with his hearing colleagues.

To help staff integrate, the Royal Strathclyde Blindcraft Industries (RSBi) have started sign language classes delivered by tutor Mark McGowan. The course enables workers to acquire a basic ability to communicate with Deaf people using Sign Language, resulting in all staff communicating and working effectively as a team.
